PublicNews18: Twitter has quietly shut down millions of accounts
The Twitter company announced in September last year from its Twitter support page that except for a few places around the world, Twitter SMS service, is mobile messaging, has been stopped.
In this regard, Twitter shared another tweet yesterday, 6 months later, stating that we want to continue this process to protect users’ accounts.
According to the company, there is a risk of Twitter accounts being attacked via SMS, which is why Twitter has maintained a ban on the SMS service.
Although the Twitter SMS service has been shut down, users will still have access to important messages such as account logins and messages that manage them.
The move comes after Twitter co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Jack Dorsey’s account was hacked last year. Informed partners
In the past, when Twitter SMS service was booming, many users used to share tweets, create accounts and follow accounts.
With the change to the messaging service, Twitter has quietly closed the millions of accounts that were created under the service.
A Twitter spokesman told the Mashable site that the accounts created from the Twitter SMS service were deleted because their details were not available, such as phone numbers, or email addresses.
A Twitter spokesman said that the accounts that posed a threat had been deleted and that they no longer supported the technology, but that some accounts could lose followers as a result.
